Construction work on the new integrated casino tourism complex in the Van Don Economic Zone, in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam, has begun. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 19 December 2025.
Developed by Sun Group, the project has a total investment of up to US$2 billion and covers an area exceeding 244 ha. It is planned under a modern ‘resort city’ model, aiming to create a regional-scale entertainment and tourism destination meeting international standards.
In the first phase, the development will feature a large-scale hotel, combined with beachfront resort villas, commercial shophouse zones, and a comprehensive system of service and entertainment amenities. Plus, there will be commercial streets, culinary spaces, shopping areas, as well as cultural and artistic activities.
A key highlight is the pilot casino gaming and entertainment venue, which will allow Vietnamese citizens to participate in accordance with government policy, said Sun Group. The developer aims to establish a world-class destination capable of competing with major global attractions such as Macau, Singapore and Las Vegas.
Upon completion, the complex is expected to become the first large-scale resort city in northern Vietnam. The casino component is scheduled to be inaugurated in 2028, with full project completion targeted in the fourth quarter of 2034.
