Singapore – The Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) has awarded the prestigious SIA Gold Medal to Ar. Raymond Woo and the late Ar. Kerry Hill. The award is the highest accolade conferred by SIA to honour architects who exemplify outstanding design, thought leadership and contribution to architectural education and the community at large.

“The conferment of the SIA Gold Medal this year is a fitting testament to our SIA 60’s celebration theme ‘Tomorrow, Today’, acknowledging the strengths and contributions of our architectural greats who have made a lasting impression on the next generation, evidenced and recorded in the newly refreshed SIA Genealogy Map,” says Ar. Melvin Tan, President of the Singapore Institute of Architects.

Ar. Raymond Woo, one of Singapore’s most respected architects started his practice Raymond Woo & Associates Architects in 1971. With a career spanning over five decades, Woo has left an indelible mark on Singapore’s architectural fabric. His architectural visions are powerful and pure, resulting in monumental yet practical designs that have transformed the cityscape and engaged its users.

Ar. Kerry Hill (1943-2018) moved to Asia from Australia in 1971 and established Kerry Hill Architects in Singapore in 1979. Hill became a Singapore Permanent Resident and a Singapore Registered Architect, solidifying his ties to the country. In his career spanning over four decades, Hill has grown a small studio known for redefining boutique hotels and resorts in Asia, to an architectural practice that embraces a distinguished global portfolio of public buildings and private residences, while continuing to pioneer innovation in resorts and hotels worldwide.
